School Leaver Employment Supports (SLES) are NDIS supports that help young people with disability prepare for work and gain real-world experience before or just after finishing high school. At iConnect Life, our SLES program is tailored to the individual and delivered alongside you, your family, carers and school.
What a SLES program teaches
- Communication within the workplace
- Budgeting and money
- Dressing appropriately for work
- Understanding what an employer needs and taking instruction
- Time management and travel independence
- Searching and applying for a job
- Writing resumes and cover letters
- Workplace health and safety
Getting SLES in your plan
Whether SLES is in your plan is decided by the NDIA, based on your goals and your stage at school. If you are approaching the end of school, ask your planner or support coordinator whether SLES is right for you, and check the NDIS website for the current rules. We are happy to talk it through: call 1800 511 411.
